This is the second year WENIRUDA brings prestigious GreenMango scholarships to West Nile’s brightest and well-rounded students. These scholarships are funded by donors from across the globe. Three students won the award: two were A-level students now going to university and one is an O-level student going to A-level.
ANGUYO INNOCENT ALIA (A-level)
Anguyo is a born of 1989, born in Arua and is the eldest of four children. He completed A’ level from St. Josephs Ombachi. Anguyo hopes to become Minister of Finance and therefore wants to pursue a course in financial management. He wants to kick out corruption if possible out of all public offices.
He believes the Green Mango scholarship will be a stepping stone for him to attain his long term and short term goals in life.
At school, he served students as a leader in positions like publicity Secretary for Uganda National Student’s Association, speaker for school health club and an advisor to students.
DRAMUKE SAMUEL (A-level)
He is born of 1989, born in Arua District. He completed A’level from St Joseph Ombachi and hopes to become an economist.
In his leadership career, Dramuke has been an editor in school magazine. According to his head teacher, he is a very sound and good character who is able to get things done. If empowered to pursue financial management course, the community will definitely benefit from his services.
He mentioned political problems as factors that affect the local people much in terms of loss of lives, destruction of property and said this happens because politicians want to rule for life an example he gave was Robert Mugabe who ignores the cry of people encouraging him to step down.
He however proposed that organizations like UN, AU, EU, should establish a joint decree for all nations to under take democratic activities and establish a law that a president should rule for only one term in office so that people who eye top positions do not join negative forces.
LEKU ROY (O-level)
Leku was a born of 1990, in Maracha-Terego District. He completed O’level from St. Josephs College Ombachi where he scored aggregate 17 (division one). According to his school master, he is a self motivated and focused boy who needs some reinforcement to fully explore his enormous potential. Leku’s dream is to become a doctor or an engineer. He also dreams of becoming a researcher in the field of medicine because no one has so far successful discovered drugs for complete cure of HIV/AIDS. He said the GreenMango scholarship will make him concentrate on his studies because he will be assured of school fees.
